Greyfriars Bobby is a legend in Edinburgh, the city in which I spent eight years of my childhood: the story goes that Bobby, a wee Scottish terrier, bonded so deeply with his master that when the master died, Bobby mourned for him by remaining beside his master's grave. I have always been gripped by this picture of faithfulness. This tune always returns to the same little phrase, no matter where the melody takes us. This is my attempt to musically depict faithfulness.
