This tune was written as a companion tune to Gilles Chabenat’s popular, Poules Huppées (Crested Hens). Also written for the hurdy gurdy, The Whiskered Owl takes its inspiration from early music. My choice of a modal melody (Dorian mode) over the gurdy drone especially evokes early music sensibilities.
