about

Originally called Mince Pies because I wanted to capture the ‘spice’ in this tune, I decided to borrow an image from C. S. Lewis’ The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe instead. This tune is another mixed meter melody and borrows some accidentals from the harmonic minor scale, which results in an augmented second interval: this interval is what gives the melody its slightly non-western like flavor. Just as the White Witch is able to make a box of turkish delight suddenly appear out of thin air, the tune disappears into thin air, evaporating into harmonics, and then nothing at all.
